Of all the sneakers that have profoundly marked the history of Nikehistory, the Air Force 1 is perhaps the one that seems the most timeless. It must be said that it has not left the catalogue of the equipment manufacturer since 1986, after the latter finally agreed to relaunch its production and marketing. It is also equipped with a simplistic but evolving design that allows the successors of Bruce Kilgore, its creator, to continue to revisit it with as much efficiency as ever. And it has been going on for over 30 years. The latest example is the famous Air Force 1 Shadow which is becoming a reference for trainer lovers.
The craze for deconstructed sneakers seems to be as strong as ever, particularly on the part of the Swoosh brand. The still recent success of the N.354 range is a very good example, as is the Nike Air Force Jester XX, released in 2018.
Some designers like Alexander Wang are unconditional fans of simplicity and sobriety. This is generally the case with Acronym, who is rather keen to do a lot of work on the Nike models he revisits. The 2015 collaboration on the Lunar Force 1 is a perfect example: a partially sewn swoosh covered with a plastic material that covers the back of the trainer, laces associated with a zipper attached to the side of the upper, a reworked sole... A trend that has largely continued thereafter, especially for the leader of the trainer. Thus, the arrival of the The Ten collection and its success will create the Nike Off White. The release of the must-have Nike SacaiThe release of the "must-have" sneakers, also made the collaboration a real standard for sneakers.
The Air Force 1 has undergone several modifications, resulting in several versions, including Shadow and the Crater variation. So, in an effort to reinvent this model, the Nike brand is offering a new iteration called "Pixel" on 5 November 2020. With the Nike AF1 Pixel collection, the brand is bringing the shoe back into the 21st century.
The key models of the Air Force 1 Pixel collection are part of the Autumn Winter 2020 collection. These include Air Force 1 Low Pixel Desert Sand and Air Force 1 Low Pixel Grey Gold Chain. The rest of the collection is available in more sober colours such as grey, beige, black and white.
With its unstructured aesthetics, characterised in particular by a unique play of relief, the Air Force 1 Pixel created a tsunami on the sneakers game, confirming that the trend started a few years earlier by Virgil Abloh in its collection The Ten is far from dead.
